What is Smile Strong program ?
Smile Strong program is a one-year, coaching-led synkinesis rehabilitation program for individuals who have regained facial movement after Bell’s palsy but continue to experience tightness, involuntary movements, or poor control. The program works by retraining the brain to uncouple faulty movement patterns, calm facial overactivity, and restore smooth, isolated expressions. Using a slow, structured, neuroscience-based approach, Smile Strong focuses on long-term nervous system reorganisation—not quick fixes. Over time, it helps improve facial symmetry, comfort, and expression, so facial movements feel natural again rather than forced or consciously managed.
Why a one year program is necessary ?
Synkinesis develops when regenerating facial nerve fibers reconnect incorrectly, causing unwanted linked movements—for example, eye closure while smiling or mouth pulling during blinking.
These patterns are:
Neurological (brain-based), not muscular
Reinforced by repetition over months
Resistant to short, aggressive interventions
A one-year timeline allows:
Gradual uncoupling of linked movements
Reduction of facial tightness and overactivity
Relearning of smooth, isolated expression
Long-term stability rather than temporary improvement
Program Structure: 12 Months | 3 Phases
Phase 1: Relaxation phase
Phase 2: Isolation phase
Phase 3: Coordination phase
What Smile Strong program helps to improve?
This program helps to improve:
Eye closure during smiling or speaking
Facial tightness and pulling sensations
Asymmetry at rest and during expression
Over effort and facial fatigue
Self-consciousness related to facial movement
Who this program is for ?
This program is for:
Individuals with established synkinesis (6+ months post Bell’s palsy)
Those who have recovered movement but not control
People frustrated by persistent tightness or linked movements
Professionals seeking long-term, stable improvement rather than temporary relief
What this program is not ?
This program is:
Not aggressive strengthening
Not quick cosmetic correction
Not random facial exercises
Not a passive “wait and see” approach
How is this different from regular facial exercises or YouTube videos ?
Most generic facial exercises increase effort and repetition—which often worsens synkinesis.
Smile strong program focuses on:
Low-effort, high-precision movementsBreaking abnormal movement patterns
Using proprioceptive and sensory retraining instead of force
Coaching feedback to correct errors early
This is rehab, NOT facial fitness.
Is this program delivered online ?
Yes. Smile Strong program is delivered through a structured online, coaching-led format, allowing you to practice in your natural environment with regular expert guidance and corrections.
How much time is needed to commit per day ?
Daily practice is typically 15–20 minutes, twice a day depending on the phase. The emphasis is on quality, not duration. Overtraining is avoided to prevent increased tightness or synkinesis.
